RE: Hairstyles 101

Prior to the blog post before this one, I had to do my hair hippie style. & may I add, I just loved the way it came out.

After showering, let hair air dry.

With a curling iron (I use the Marcel) curl some pieces.

After you have curled some top pieces, add product to ends of hair.

Style with fingers.

Throw the headband on..and you are set to go! :) oxoxox

hairstyles 101

As a few of you may know, yes, I am currently enrolled in the art and science of BEAUTY, Cosmetology. I will be posting blogs about hair and make-up (what I love)..along with more FASHION (another passion of mine), more often to inspire a few of you that share the same obsessions as me. So stay posted! With love, Arykah. Oxox

Hippie Hairstyles:

Here are a few of my favorite hippie hairstyles. One thing I cannot stand is every girl throwing a headband across their head & calling herself a "hippie". UM NO. The hippie look is so popular nowadays, but you have to know how to rock it well. So I will be listing a few of my favorites, and a few NO NO's.

Jullianne Hough

Katy Cassidy

Drew Barrymore

Here's me, with a few favorite hippie hairstyles. The famous "Roll-out-of-bed look" by Arykah:

& of course..this look:

what I did here was absolutely nothing to my hair. But put in a peek-a-boo braid (as I like to call it) Yes, the braid going across, is my real hair.

& the No No's:

I'm all for peace, love, & all of the above..but let's not have desperate written all over our faces people! Please! Let's get it together, (lol).

Short Hairstyles:

Below are a few favorites. From short hair to long hair. Short hair is in, now. Keep up with your latest trendy hairstyles. (for the people with short hair)

Medium length hairstyles:

Long length Hairstyles:

& this is just something fun I found. Hairstyles by Bumble&Bumble, with "the rhinestone ROADIE" & "The Hippie Heiress" being a couple of my personal favorites.

The resurgence of octogenarian Japanese art legend Yayoi Kusama, continues this week with an outdoor exhibition at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Florida. Opening to coincide with Art Basel, Miami Beach. A series of fantastical, multicolored flower sculptures sprout up to sixteen feet high among the palms, bamboo, heliconias and cycads in this 83-acre venue, along with three boulder-sized “pumpkins,” and a pond installation of ten spotted humps.

such art.

I think their work is SO beautiful, yet simple. Not too much, very elegant. It makes the work that much more interesting. I am an artist myself, so when I see things like this, it inspires me...this is something I definitely need to see up-close-and-personal.

part of my dreamhouse

. .is to have my own library.
That would just complete it.
Maybe with a little coffee shop in it as well.
I need to read more.
I do not think I read ENOUGH.
Which I should, to exercise my brain even more.
I read...probably about a book every 5-6 months?
That's horrible.
& how I really do enjoy reading a decent book.
go to Barne's and Noble & pick out a very interesting book.
Not just by judging the book by it's cover...
but an actual I N T E R E S T I N G book that I have never heard about before.
Oh and if you haven't already..
do yourself a favor and read "The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sister Souljah.

Can't decide. .

on whether this video is more sad than it is hilarious! hahaha
I know the parents are ignorant for teaching their child such foul language. I mean I'm pretty sure she is going to grow up raised as a "hoodrat" or "ratchet" ass little girl. That still doesn't change the fact that this video is COMEDY.
